The tornado damaged four training aircraft, a private helicopter, as well as several equipment and apron structures at the airfield of Nizhnekamsk airport, the Federal Air Transport Agency’s Telegram channel reported on July 30.
“Today, at about 15:00 Moscow time, a tornado occurred in the area of the Nizhnekamsk airport (Begishevo; ICAO code: UWKE). According to preliminary data, the following were damaged at the airport as a result of the tornado: four Diamond DA42 training aircraft from the fleet of the St. Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation; a private helicopter; several apron equipment; several structures on the airfield.”the message said.
The Federal Air Transport Agency added that the amount of damage caused by the tornado is still being estimated.
It was also noted that the Nizhnekamsk airport did not suspend its operations: there were no possible delays in flights or departures of aircraft to alternative airfields. Now the Nizhnekamsk airfield is carrying out the planned works.
Recall that earlier the media reported that four light-engine training aircraft at the Begishevo International Airport in Nizhnekamsk were slightly damaged due to strong and strong winds.
