The movement of electric trains in Tanzania has been stopped by monkeys and owls, the Tanzanian publication The Citizen wrote about this on July 31.
A train travelling from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma was forced to stop for two hours due to a power outage.
The incident occurred just a day before President Samia Suluhu Hassan officially launched the electric train service, scheduled for August 1.
“Preliminary reports suggest that the outage was caused by animals like monkeys or birds like owls coming into contact with the overhead wires. This led to a power outage at cooling station number 7 (Godegode).”explained Jamila Mbaruk, Head of Communications and Public Relations at Tanzania Railways Corporation.
Recall that the movement of electric trains from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma started on July 25, 2024.
