Some 50 police officers were injured during riots in the English town of Southport that erupted after a knife attack on children, the North West England Ambulance Service said on July 31.
Rioting outside a mosque in Southport began yesterday after a knife attack on a dance group left three children dead. More than 50 police officers were injured, 27 of whom were taken to hospital.
Police also said eight officers suffered serious injuries, including fractures, lacerations, a broken nose and a concussion. Other officers suffered head and facial injuries. Three police dogs were also injured, two of them by bricks thrown at them.
On July 29, a 17-year-old teenager committed a massacre in Southport during a group lesson for children on yoga and dancing with American pop singer Taylor Swift. The attacker, born in Cardiff, Wales, was immediately arrested. According to The Times, a friend of the suspect’s parents said that his family fled to Britain to escape the genocide in Rwanda.
