Power outages in Uzbekistan may occur from July 31 to August 5 due to the implementation of a new system for metering (billing) consumption, NO Billing, the press service of the Regional Electricity Networks (RES) company reported on July 31.
“In connection with the launch of the new HET Billing software package, preventive work will be carried out at the Data Processing Centre from 23:50 on 31 July to 22:00 on 5 August”the message said.
The press service noted that during the launch of the system there may be problems with the collection of payments from consumers’ personal accounts. In order to avoid “inconveniences” for consumers, the automatic power off function will be disabled during this period.
Recall that the task of developing and implementing a billing system for accounting for the population’s electricity consumption was set by the government in 2020. RES spent about $13 million on its creation in 2023.
To develop electricity metering services for the population, the government is requesting a loan of 400 million dollars from the ADB.
