Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Wednesday the country is prepared for all scenarios, although it does not want war with Iran after the attack in Tehran that killed a Hamas leader.
“We don’t want war, but we are preparing for all eventualities,” admitted Gallant, the first senior Israeli government official to speak out since the death of Palestinian Islamist Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in an attack in the Iranian capital.
The defense minister visited a battery of the Strela long-range missile defense system also after Israel attacked Beirut on Tuesday in a targeted explosion that killed the commander in chief of the Shiite group Hezbollah’s military wing, Fuad Shukr.
