The creation of a new trade route in Central Asia bypassing Russia will be financed by Japan, The Japan Times reported on August 1.
According to the publication, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will announce this at his upcoming meeting with the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Japanese government sources tell the Japan Times that the new trade route linking Europe with Central Asia will pass through the Caspian Sea. This will greatly reduce the former Soviet republics’ economic dependence on Russia and make them more dependent on the United States and the European Union.
In addition, the Japanese economic assistance package for Central Asian countries will help solve the problems of decarbonization of these states and exchanges between the peoples of these countries.
The publication highlights that Central Asia is a key geopolitical region and, moreover, rich in natural resources, particularly gas.
