Sofia is one of the friends of Alice, the Portuguese girl who died in the Southport school attack. He left her a message in the town square, remembering her fondly: “I’ll miss you, I’ll miss playing with you. You’re too precious to be forgotten, you’re too special to be replaced.”
Dozens of toys lie next to the child’s photograph, as well as letters to other murdered girls. Alice lived in Southport, less than an hour from Manchester. An only child of Madeiran parents, she loved dancing. It was this that prompted her to ask her mother to attend the workshop where she was stabbed.
Alice’s mother is currently locked in the house. He does not receive visitors, the child’s aunt, at least, tries to feed him.
The authorities have not yet released the child’s body, and a funeral is not even expected in the coming days.
