All Federation Council senators were shocked by the detention of Dmitry Savelyev in the case of his involvement in organizing a murder, his colleague, senator of the legislative body from the Tula region Marina Levina, said in a comment to RIA Novosti on August 2.
According to her, Savelyev was considered a person of high social responsibility, “a receptive and sensitive person”which “I invested the most in the social sphere.”
“I can only tell you one thing, which is shocking everyone. Because there are not only suspicions (there were none – ed.), because the person was of the highest social responsibility. He took care of orphans and disabled children in the region. He built and repaired orphanages, hospitals and restored cultural institutions.”“, Levina emphasized.
According to the senator from the Tula region, the Federation Council was not aware of the lifting of immunity until today’s meeting.
This event plunged Levina, in his words, into “An indescribable shock.”
Recall that Dmitry Savelyev, a member of the Federation Council, is suspected of involvement in organizing the murder of his business partner. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, Savelyev’s immunity was lifted directly during a meeting of the upper house of the Russian parliament, after which he was asked to leave the Federation Council meeting room. Upon leaving, he was detained by law enforcement officers for investigation.
