Vanessa Marisa vows to ‘shine’ in Portugal’s Olympic bid

Portugal’s Vanessa Marina left for France this Saturday to take part in the main event of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and in her suitcase she carries the promise that the Portuguese will see her “shine”.

In a conversation with the Lusa agency, the athlete did not want to set goals for herself, but was confident in the possibility of fighting for a medal.

“A good result would be to get into the top 8. If I do that, then I think about the top 4 and maybe the opportunity to fight for a medal. But I think good results are achieved when you don’t look at the top of the ladder, but stop along the way and take one step at a time,” he said.

Vanessa Marina said she was “very excited” to be competing at the Olympics, but did not feel any pressure from being the only athlete making her debut.

“I think it takes the pressure off a little bit because we have countries there that are more culturally and financially powerful. And as for Portugal, it’s just me. So I think it takes the pressure off a little bit because it seems like nobody gives anything for Portugal, and then we come and explode. But I’m very happy to represent Portugal,” he stressed.

The Portuguese athlete also said that she aims to “show the world the quality and passion of the Portuguese in breaking” rather than the classification itself.

“I’m really excited to be part of a historic milestone that I always saw on TV when I was younger,” she confirmed.

As for what she can promise the Portuguese, Vanessa Marisa guaranteed that she will do her best.

“I promise I will do my best, I will. And whatever is meant to happen will happen, but shining is what I do best. Of course, you will see me shine,” he concluded.
