Duangpetch Promthep, one of 12 boys rescued from a cave in Chiang Rai, Thailand in 2018, has died in the UK. I was 18 years old.
According to the BBC, the cause of death is still unclear, but the young man, also known as Dom, suffered a head injury. Since 2022, Duangpetch Promthep has been playing at the Brook House High School Football Academy.
The young man was the captain of a football team that spent two weeks trapped in Tham Luang Cave. When all this happened, he was 13 years old, and his classmates were from 11 to 16 years old. They were trapped on June 23, 2018, surprised by the rise in water levels. They were rescued two weeks later after the intervention of a search and rescue team of about 100 divers.
Temple Wat Doi Wao, which is located in the hometown of the young man, expressed his condolences.
