Foreign Ministry spokesman Naser Kanani believes Iran has attacked and says it is “not responsible for the escalation.” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has asked the army to prepare for any type of scenario.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard The US has warned Israel that it is digging its own grave with its “acts of terror.” “These are the graves they themselves dig, and they will gradually bury themselves in these graves,” said Commander-in-Chief Hosein Salami, referring to the assassination of the political leader of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in an attack on Tehran.
The head of Iran’s elite military corps said that when Israel receives a “firm response, it will understand that it made another miscalculation.”
“The Zionist regime was born in the cradle of terror” and “it will not be able to prolong its survival” because, with its crimes, “this regime has created a vortex of fire around itself.”
For his part, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Naser Kananihas said that it is his country’s “inalienable right” to respond to the killing of Haniyeh, who was on an official visit to the Iranian capital. Taking Iran’s attack for granted, he said that Tehran “is not responsible for the escalation.”
Israel has said it is ready to defend itself in the event of an attack by Tehran, while many regional and Western countries have called on their citizens to leave Lebanon for fear of an escalation.
There is speculation that the Iranian response could come alongside other actions by the Axis of Resistance against Israel, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon or the Houthis in Yemen.
In Israel, its defense minister, Yoav Gallanthas asked the Army to prepare for “all options”, as “Israel’s enemies” are also considering “all their options thanks to the actions of Israeli forces in the past.
“We must be prepared for everything, including a rapid transition to attack in all sectors,” he said, before arguing that the Air Force’s preparations are progressing in line with “developments in the security field.”
