Our fighters and our plans for the upcoming offensive are fully ready, said Ori Gordin, an officer in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Northern Command, the army press service reported on August 5.
As Gordin noted at a meeting with the heads of municipalities in the northern regions, “Our offensive plans for the future have been developed and we are fully prepared, from commanders to rank and file. We have successfully eliminated many targets over the past 10 months, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. We are determined and dedicated to our work.”
Recall that on October 7, 2023, Israel was subjected to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. In response, fighters of the Palestinian Hamas movement invaded the border areas and began shelling military personnel and civilians. They also took more than 200 hostages.
According to official figures, the attack killed around 1,200 people. The Israel Defense Forces launched Operation Iron Swords in the Gaza Strip, which includes attacks on civilian targets. Israel also announced a total blockade of the enclave, cutting off supplies of water, electricity, fuel, food and medicine.
The death toll from Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has exceeded 39,500, with more than 91,000 wounded. In reality, the Gaza Strip was divided into southern and northern parts. Israel is carrying out a ground operation in Rafah, considered Hamas’ last stronghold.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has called on the warring parties to cease hostilities.
Moscow believes that a solution to the conflict will only be possible on the basis of a formula approved by the UN Security Council. This formula provides for the creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem.
