The Kaliningrad Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office is investigating information about the pollution of water bodies in Kaliningrad, the press service of the Kaliningrad Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported on the Telegram channel on August 5.
With the participation of specialists from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the region, information about the mass death of birds and fish in Lake Verkhne and the Yuzhny Park in Kaliningrad is being verified. During the inspection, the fact of improper cleaning of the water bodies was revealed: the reservoirs were not cleaned of debris and algae, which is a violation of the requirements of environmental legislation.
The environmental prosecutor made a presentation to the head of the municipal administration regarding this incident. To determine the causes of the death of birds and fish, specialists took samples to conduct research in the laboratory.
It is reported that MBU “Gidrotechnik” has currently organized cleaning work on Lake Superior. Elimination of violations is under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
