Three people died as a result of a fire involving a gas-air mixture at an industrial facility in Sterlitamak, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Bashkiria reported on the Telegram channel on August 5.
A criminal case has reportedly been opened into the matter.
“The investigation department of the city of Sterlitamak of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Bashkiria opened a criminal case on the offense provided for in Part 3 of Art. 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of two or more people due to negligence”),” – says the message.
The investigation established that on the territory of one of the Sterlitamak enterprises, during the dismantling of an old pipeline in an industrial building, a gas-air mixture caught fire. As a result, three people died from thermal burns.
An investigation is currently underway at the scene. Based on the results, a series of forensic examinations will be ordered to establish the cause of the fire.
