The President of the Republic published this Monday a government decree extending until 31 March 2025 the transitional regime for the provision of social mobility subsidies for autonomous regions.
The publication of this charter, approved by the Council of Ministers on July 27, is reported on the official website of the President of the Republic.
The aim of this diploma is to “enable the working group responsible for reforming the distribution system of social mobility subsidies in the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and the Azores to define appropriate measures”.
In Madeira, the subsidised mobility scheme, which came into force in September 2015, provides for residents of the region to pay 86 euros and students 65 euros for a return journey to the mainland (119 euros to the Azores). This amount can be increased if it exceeds the maximum return ceiling of 400 euros.
Residents of Madeira must pay the full price of the trip at the time of purchase and then receive the subsidy at CTT offices using documents proving the trip made, with a refund period of 90 days if payment is made using a credit card.
In the case of the Azores, the regional government said that the decision on a transitional regime for subsidising social mobility for autonomous regions does not change the current situation.
This regime was already extended by the Council of Ministers on 27 December 2023, then until 31 July 2024, a period that has now ended.
