“I didn’t kill him. I didn’t hurt him. I can’t go to prison for this,” is the story of António Freitas da Silva, known as “Tony do Penha”, 74, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Guimarães Court for the murder of Fernando Ferreira (“Conde”), in January 2020. The court heard that “Tony” and an accomplice attacked “Conde”, 63, throwing him into the Ave River without helping him. He killed “Conde” because he suspected that he had stolen from him.
“The safe I had with more than 130,000 euros was empty,” said Toni do Penha, owner of a nightclub in Guimarães. “They have 15 days to return what they stole from me, otherwise it will all end up in the river,” he wrote in a social media post that he deleted after the crime.
“Tony do Penha” spent two years in prison but was released due to excessive preventive detention. In January 2023, he was sentenced to seven years in prison for the crime of abandoning his home. The appeal court disagreed and ordered a retrial. “Tony” and his accomplice were sentenced to 20 years in prison. To see, in ‘Investigation by KM‘, in 1 ‘Tony do Penha’, 74 years old.
