More than 60 Russian citizens are being held in US prisons, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov told TASS in an interview.
“62 people. Russians who were kidnapped in third countries and taken to the United States.”said Antonov.
He said that imprisoned Russian citizens are being persuaded to cooperate with the FBI in exchange for reduced prison sentences.
The ambassador believes that it is pointless to condemn those who choose to cooperate with Western intelligence services.
“It is one thing to use epithets and biting slogans against these people, and another thing to live at least one day in this prison and see these conditions.”“, the diplomat emphasized.
The ambassador described the prisoner exchange that took place in Ankara “a rare case of positivity in Russian-American relations”.
Recall that on August 1, an exchange of 26 prisoners between Russia and NATO countries took place in Ankara. Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin pardoned foreign citizens and Russian foreign agents released in the exchange.
