“You can wear many jerseys. Score goals in different stadiums around the world. But there is nothing better than coming home. Load up Benfica!” It was with this message from Renato Sanches that Benfica confirmed the signing of the midfielder this Monday via a video posted on social networks.
“It’s a very nice moment, it’s always been my favourite club. It’s always hard not to think about going back, because it’s a place where you feel good. Compared to the clubs I’ve been to, in terms of greatness, Benfica was bigger than all the others,” the midfielder added to BTV.
“Benfica never changes, the mystique is always the same. I hope to see Benfica, as always, winning and winning. That’s what all Benfica fans expect,” he explained, leaving a guarantee: “I can promise what I’ve always done when I wore this shirt. Dedication and hard work, because I grew up here with this work ethic, so I think there will never be a shortage of that.” Sánchez does not see “any difficulties” in adapting to Roger Schmidt’s tactics: “I played with this system in previous teams. It won’t be an obstacle for me.”
The return of 26-year-old Sanches to Luz became official after the departure of João Neves was confirmed. The two entities are formally so independent that Sanches’ arrival was not reported to CMVM, unlike the sale of Neves. But the two deals were linked from the start, with details of one affecting the other and vice versa, delaying both.
An example is the João Neves solidarity mechanism. When Gonçalo Ramos was sold to PSG a year ago for 65 million euros, Benfica allowed the Parisians to keep a sum linked to the player’s training compensation. Now that Neves has arrived, PSG no longer have this advantage. As Correio da Mañana knows, the Reds’ decision was taken after the French insisted on including a transfer fee based on Sanches’s income. In other words, Benfica, in addition to reserving a purchase clause, will have to pay a certain amount for the midfielder’s loan if he plays 60% of the official games, with the amount increasing if the attendance is 80%.
Another decisive detail in this whole process is the financial transaction (see details) that allows Benfica to receive almost 60 million euros, which PSG pays in advance.
DETAILS
HIGH VALUE
In an interview with CMVM, Benfica explained that they would receive “a net sum of 59,921,587 euros” for João Neves. In the latest report and reports, the embodied SAD reported the sale price of Gonçalo Ramos at 6.6 million dollars, “taking into account the agreed plan of receipt”.
FORECAST
From the official information provided by Benfica to the stock exchange regulator, it follows that the “financial news” will not have any effect in the case of João Neves, including the additional 10 million euros in terms of targets that will bring the net proceeds from the sale to “69,908,518 euros”.
TAKE 10%
Benfica, through Jorge Mendes, will deduct 10% of the announced revenue (initial and subsequent with targets). The businessman played a decisive role in the return of Sanches, informing PSG about the transfer at a low cost.
