A 70-year-old man suspected of shooting dead one person and wounding another in Carrazeda de Ansiaes, Bragança, was in preventive detention, the Vila Real Judicial Police (PJ) said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the SP said it had arrested a 77-year-old man who “faces serious charges” of two counts of aggravated murder that left a 36-year-old man dead and another, 27, seriously injured.
The judiciary explained that the crimes occurred after an argument and took place on public roads, when the suspect, for “no reason”, carrying a firearm, fired two shots at close range at the victims, two brothers.
The crime took place on Sunday afternoon in the village of Areias, Carraceda de Ansiaes municipality, Bragança district.
According to the SP, the surviving victim was hospitalized in serious condition, the prognosis is unfavorable.
An elderly man punched two brothers in what the Polish People’s Republic described on the day of the crime as a “disagreement” between neighbors.
The suspect was subjected to a first judicial interrogation at the Vila Flor Court and the most serious coercive measure was applied to him: preventive detention.
The arrest was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department of Vila Real, with the cooperation of the National Republican Guard.
