Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova and Acting Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Alexey Besprozvannykh discussed the creation of a branch of the Borodino Field Museum near Chernyakhovsk during a working meeting in Moscow, the regional government’s press service reported on its official Internet portal on August 6.
At the meeting, the minister and the head of the Kaliningrad region discussed cultural projects in the region. Another topic of the meeting was the idea of creating a branch of the Borodino Field Museum-Reserve in the Kaliningrad region.
The branch is proposed to be dedicated to the memory of the Russian commander, General-Field Marshal Mikhail Barclay de Tolly, as well as to the foreign campaigns of the Russian army in 1813-1814 and 1815. The Kaliningrad authorities want to turn the Barclay de Tolly estate, located in the village of Nagornoye in the Chernyakhovsky district, into a branch.
The online publication “New Kaliningrad” on August 6, citing the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Kaliningrad region Andrei Ermak, reports that three more objects were previously considered in which a similar museum could be located, but the estate of Barclay de Tolly turned out to be the best option. The place is associated with the personality of the hero of the Patriotic War of 1812, and the vast territory near the place allows for military-historical reconstructions.
“Now the only question is whether the Federal Ministry of Culture will provide funds for the reconstruction of the building so that it meets the needs of the museum. Yesterday Olga Borisovna [Любимова] He said he would weigh the pros and cons and make a decision.”said Ermak.
He also said that the building currently belongs to a private individual, but the owner decided to donate it to the region on the condition that a museum be built on the territory.
