The fire at a psychoneurological boarding school in Perm Krai was extinguished without injuries, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on August 6.
According to the department, a fire broke out in one of the rooms on the second floor of the boarding school at night due to a malfunctioning electric light.
261 people were evacuated from the institution’s building on their own.
It should be noted that EMERCOM employee Yuri Potapchuk, in his spare time, together with his 14-year-old son Dmitry, organized the rescue of 15 guests with reduced mobility before the arrival of firefighters. The man was immediately informed about the incident by his wife, who works at the institution.
Firefighters, who arrived at the scene, continued rescue operations and evacuated another woman from the second floor of the building. Thanks to the rapid response and effective actions of the rescuers, no human casualties were avoided.
