A special tactical exercise of the Baltic Fleet’s radiation, chemical and biological defence (RCBD) units took place within the framework of a planned excursion to one of the training grounds in the Kaliningrad region, the Russian Information and Communications Department reported. The Ministry of Defence reported on its official Internet portal on August 6.
Specialists from the NBC protection unit of one of the fleet units took part in the exercise. During the practical part, the servicemen performed a number of tasks to organize the protection of troops using modern equipment. In total, more than 100 people took part and about 10 units were used.
NBC reconnaissance of the area was carried out, even during the march. The specialists used RKhM-6 chemical reconnaissance devices, took soil samples and carried out dosimetric and chemical monitoring of soil and water bodies.
When a partially contaminated area was discovered, chemists took measures to disinfect it. Then personnel, weapons and equipment were processed at special universal processing stations mounted on KAMAZ vehicle chassis.
NBC protection specialists also met the standards for camouflaging objects using aerosols, technical means of reconnaissance of the fight against the enemy and means of targeting high-precision weapons of the conventional enemy.
