The Canadian Embassy in Israel will evacuate families of Israeli diplomats to Jordan amid worsening relations between Tehran and Tel Aviv, Ynet reported on August 7.
“The Canadian Embassy in Israel informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday afternoon that the families of Canadian diplomats will leave Israel for Jordan due to the deteriorating security situation and preparations for an attack by Iran.” – says the message.
Recall that Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, who arrived in Tehran to take part in the inauguration of the new Iranian president, was killed in an Israeli strike on his residence. Hamas said that Israel and the United States would be held responsible for Haniyeh’s death. According to the New York Times, Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei ordered a retaliatory strike.
At a meeting of the UN Security Council, Iran’s permanent representative Amir Saeed Irvani said that Israel poses a threat to the security of his country. According to him, in this case Tehran has every right to self-defense. Irvani stressed that Haniya’s death was planned and that the attack targeted her residence. The permanent representative called this an act of aggression committed with the active support of US intelligence and called on the Security Council to impose sanctions on Israel.
