Manuel Martinez Quintas, the former Spanish soldier who shot and attempted to rape two young women in Castelo de Vide, Portalegre, was already known in Spain. “Manolo”, known in the neighboring country as “El Quintas”, has already been sentenced to 76 years in prison for the murder of two young men on the island of Las Pallas in Zamora.
He was released from prison for good behavior in 1996, after 13 years, but returned to prison in 1997 for kidnapping and raping a young girl in Zamora.
According to the Spanish press, he was released from prison in 2017 and was not allowed to return to Zamora for five years. Considered dangerous by the authorities, the sexual predator, who was part of the Foreign Legion, crossed the border and was now living in a campervan on the Povoa e Meadas dam in Castelo de Vide.
Last Tuesday evening, “Manolo” attacked two young women on the bank of the dam, tried to rape them and shot them. He was eventually arrested.
