The Russian Federal Penitentiary Service for the Republic of Mordovia will verify the information about the alleged “banquet” in the local colony, Izvestia writes on August 11, publishing a photo of the party, which was provided to them by a source close to the law enforcement system of the region.
According to the department, an investigation into the facts presented in the application is currently underway.
The Izvestia publication claims that they received the photograph from a source close to the Mordovian police system. The source, as stated, told the newspaper that the photograph was taken on the evening of July 20 “in the premises of the 2A detachment of the FKU IK-7 (Mordovia, Sosnovka village, Zubovo-Polyansky district).” The footage “from a CCTV camera” shows more than 20 people at tables with food, and among those present, according to the publication’s interlocutor, “convicted of serious crimes, in particular, participants and active members of ethnic criminal groups, including those distributing drugs in Russia”.
In addition, the press service of the department informed the newspaper that inmates in correctional institutions have the right to order and purchase ready-made food through the institution’s shop in the manner prescribed by law with funds earned at work or transferred to personal accounts of relatives.
