The Israeli army on Monday approved plans to act on “various fronts” in the face of a possible attack by Hezbollah and Iran, after fears of an imminent attack by Tehran and its allies on Israel resurfaced in recent hours.
In a message very similar to the one it issued just over a week ago, following the assassination of former Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in an attack attributed to Israel and facing the inevitability of Iranian retaliation, Israel confirmed that Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy had met with top military officials to discuss the situation.
“The chief of staff stressed the need to maintain a high level of combat readiness and efforts to prepare for both offense and defense,” the military said in a statement on Monday.
