The manager and former president of the Azorean aviation group SATA, António Luís Teixeira, died on Sunday of a sudden illness at the age of 58, a source close to the family confirmed to Lusa this Monday.
The source said Antonio Luis Teixeira was crossing the islands of Sao Miguel and Santa Maria alone on board a sailboat when he was rescued by the air force late in the day and taken to a private hospital on the island of Saint Michael.
The manager was President of SATA Aviation Group from July 2018 to November 2019.
António Luís Teixeira was also a member of the team led by EDA (Azores Electricity Company) and SOMAGUE in the privatization of ELECTRA, SA, a company that produces, transports, distributes and sells energy and water in Cape Verde.
The former President of the SATA Aviation Group began his professional career as an observer at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of the Azores, where he graduated in Business Organization and Management.
He has been a trainer in several vocational schools in the region, and has also been a member of the executive committee and member of INOVA – Institute of Technological Innovation of the Azores, Business Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ponta Delgada and Administrator of EDA, where he held several administrative and management positions in subsidiaries, namely GLOBALEDA, SOGEO, GEOTERCEIRA, SEGMA and EEG.
He was currently involved with the management of the newly opened Hilton hotel in the city of Lagoa, in São Miguel.
