The Public Security Police (PSP) made three arrests for disobedience in the first round of professional football competitions, with a fan detained twice at the same game, the PSP national leadership said.
According to the published article, the first arrest took place during Sunday’s First League match between Famalicao and Benfica, during which a fan belonging to a fan club subject to a one-year ban on access to sports facilities (for causing a pyrotechnic object in November 2022 at the Famalicao-Sporting match) was found at the Famalicienses stadium.
The 22-year-old fan was separated from the organised group of fans and placed in another stand, but was eventually found by agents assigned to monitor the game in violation of the ban imposed by the Office for the Prevention and Combating of Violence in Sportivny (APCVD).
Another incident occurred in the match between União de Leiria and Vicela of the II Football League on Sunday evening. The PSP detained a 30-year-old fan for “failure to comply with the precautionary measure prohibiting access to sports facilities” – a penalty applied after the explosion of a pyrotechnic device in April 2023 at the U. Leiria – Sporting de Braga B match.
“The fan was arrested and taken to the police station to be notified of the need to appear before the competent judicial authority. 25 minutes after his release, the suspect was again intercepted by PSP officers inside the sports facility, thereby committing the crime of disobedience. “I was detained again,” the PSP explained.
