A 35-year-old man was arrested by the PNP in the municipality of Cuba, Beja district, on suspicion of domestic violence, breach of privacy and extortion of his 34-year-old girlfriend, it was announced today.
A statement from the National Republican Guard (GNR) explained that the man was detained by the Center for Investigation and Support for Specific Victims (NIAVE), with the support of the Vidigueira territorial post, on Saturday as part of an investigation into domestic violence.
“The guards conducted an investigation, which established that the suspect used physical violence and threatened to kill the victim, his 34-year-old girlfriend, causing her fear and anxiety,” the statement said.
In addition to detaining the man, the Polish People’s Republic conducted searches of homes and seized computer materials.
The suspect appeared in a Cuban court, which ordered him placed under house arrest.
“Domestic violence is a social crime, and reporting it is a collective responsibility,” the security forces reminded.
