Twins Aisal and Aser were killed in a Gaza blast on Tuesday and given just four days to live. Their father, Mohammed Abu al-Qumsan, had gone to collect their birth certificates when he received a call informing him of the tragedy.
Jumana Arafa, Mohammed’s wife and the children’s mother, was also killed in the attack. The woman gave birth by Caesarean section and called the birth of her children a “miracle.”
According to CNN, the displaced family lived in northern Gaza but took refuge in Deir al-Balah, in the center of the Palestinian enclave, following instructions from the Israeli army.
Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip have killed some 40,000 Palestinians, including more than 16,400 children, 115 of whom were newborns, and injured more than 92,000, according to the local Health Ministry.
