Spanish National Police have captured a fugitive believed by US authorities to be guilty of murder with a firearm in Segovia, Spain, and in Portugal, where he apparently set fire to several rooms of the building where he was staying.
The man was wanted in the United States for an August 2009 incident in Connecticut where he apparently shot and killed another man after an argument over a car crash in the garage of the home they both shared, the report said. EFE.
Police said that on the night of the murder, the alleged shooter’s victim knocked on the door of his apartment, took a gun from the room, and went into the entryway, where they began arguing. At some point, the inmate apparently fired up to four shots, hitting the victim in the head, chest, and stomach, and he died.
In July of this year, the US Marshals contacted investigators from the Spanish National Police to inform them that the person responsible for these events may be in Spain, and efforts were immediately made to locate him. Agents were able to locate the fugitive in the province of Segovia, where he was apprehended.
The fugitive is also being held under a European arrest and extradition order issued by Portugal for a fire-related crime he committed last year, setting fire to several rooms in the building where he lived after a disagreement with various tenants.
