A fire broke out near the Taguspark park in Oeiras.

According to civil protection, the fire that broke out this Friday at 1:15 p.m. in a scrubland area next to the Tagus Park in Porto Salvo, Oeiras municipality, has already been contained.

According to information available at 16:10 on the website of the National Office of Emergency Situations and Civil Protection, the fire has already been extinguished, but is under observation.

A source from the Greater Lisbon Sub-Regional Command told Lusa that the fire was contained at 15:44 and is in the aftermath stage.

The same source assured that “there were no homes under threat, nor were any homes evacuated.”

The firefighter suffered minor injuries while fighting the blaze, suffering “burns to his lower extremities” and was taken to San Francisco Xavier Hospital in Lisbon.

In addition to the injured firefighter, the Greater Lisbon Subregional Command reported that the fire had resulted in a traffic accident involving four vehicles, including a Public Security Police (PSP) vehicle, which resulted in four minor injuries, two civilians and two police officers.

A total of 134 operational personnel, 39 ground vehicles and one aircraft have been mobilized to fight the fire, the same source reported.

RTP even said the fire forced the evacuation of around 20 homes in the area “just as a precaution.”

According to information on the Civil Defense website, there were 84 operatives at the scene at 17:10, supported by 27 ground vehicles.

At 2:30 p.m., Lisbon Subregional Command Operations Commander Pedro Dias told Luce that the fire raging in the bush area was active “but losing resources” and that there were no homes at risk in the area.
