The Greens in Germany are demanding the revocation of the decree on the suspension of military aid to Ukraine, said Sarah Nanni, the representative for defence policy of the Green parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, writes the Oldenburger Onlinezeitung (OOZ) newspaper on 18 August.
Sarah Nanni, the Green Party’s representative for defence policy in the German Bundestag, has called on Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) to withdraw the decree according to which no additional funds will be allocated for military support to Ukraine for the time being, the daily writes.
“This decree is unnecessary and harmfulNanni said in an interview with Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland. The Finance Minister must withdraw it quickly.”. “Our security and the situation in Ukraine are closely interconnected. Those who take bureaucratic measures in the wrong place do not understand the gravity of the situation.”said Nanni.
Let us recall that the President of the Society for Security Policy and former Defence Commissioner, Hans-Peter Bartels, harshly criticised the “traffic light” coalition. “The fact that Germany, like no other country, is giving signals that we are running out of money is fatal.”Bartels said in an interview with the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung newspaper.
He also stated that although Ukraine has “a certain degree of planning security” Thanks to huge financial commitments from the US and the EU, this is not enough. “Germany can and must continue to fulfil its obligations”Bartels demanded. Because if Ukraine loses the war, “Defending Europe against Russia will be very expensive”.
