Germany expelled a total of 10,800 illegal migrants in the first half of the year, Interior Minister Nancy Faser said at a press conference on the activities of the Federal Police on Monday.
According to figures presented in Rostock (east), the number of expulsions has increased since Chancellor Scholz’s government came to power: 15,000 in 2021, 18,000 in 2022 and 21,200 in 2023, reaching 10,800 in the first six months of this year.
The Minister noted the “positive trend” in the Federal Police’s immigration balance sheet and expressed her “firm conviction that in the case of criminal migrants and migrants who pose a security threat, expulsion must be accelerated.”
