Maria Ramos, 33, was brutally murdered on the street in Oakland, near San Francisco, in the United States of America, after a confrontation with two drug dealers who were selling drugs to two of her eight children.
The woman was visiting her mother when her children bought electronic cigarettes containing marijuana, the publication reports. Sun.
Maria and her mother, Blanca Velasco, followed the teenage drug dealers to a blue car to ask them to stop selling drugs near the children’s grandmother’s home.
Maria and Blanca, who were driving, pulled up next to the dealers’ car and confronted the suspects. One of the teenagers then shot and killed the mother of eight who had gotten out of the car she was riding in.
After the shot, Maria ran away. “I started to speed up and parked the car in front of my daughter to protect her. I saw her fall, but I thought she was just defending herself,” the victim’s mother said.
The woman says she fled the scene before returning to find Maria, who she found fighting for her life and covered in blood. By the time authorities arrived, the situation was too late to turn around.
Police have identified three suspects: two under 18 and one under 19. One of the minors, aged 16, is suspected of firing the fatal shot.
The authorities do not rule out that Maria hit the drug dealers with pepper spray.
