The leader of the military wing of Fatah, the most important Palestinian party, was killed in an attack attributed to Israel on Wednesday in Saida, southern Lebanon, a Palestinian political figure and a Lebanese security source said.
For the first time since the skirmish between Israeli forces and the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah began just over a decade ago, an element linked to the party of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud has been killed, Abbas confirmed.
Khalil Maqda, the leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, one of the militias linked to Fatah, “was targeted by Israel in Sidon,” senior Palestinian political figure Fathi Abu al-Aradat said in statements to the French news agency AFP.
