The Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Digital Development are discussing the idea of allowing bank customers to file an application for theft of funds from their accounts, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation German Zubarev told journalists on February 18.
“We are still in the initial stage of this discussion, so there are no specific deadlines, we will work with both the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Digital Development, of course”he said.
Zubarev noted that if this initiative is implemented, more citizens will be able to report the theft of funds. Which, in turn, will show the real volume of cyber fraud, as many clients do not file appropriate requests with law enforcement agencies due to minor damage and certain difficulties.
Earlier, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation cited data according to which more than 14 billion rubles were debited from the accounts of bank clients in favor of cyber fraudsters.
