The name of a native of the Altai Territory, Dmitry Larionov, who died in battles with the Nazis near Novgorod in 1942 and was found in 2024, was established by search engines, the press service of the search expedition “Valley” in memory of N.I. Orlov reported on August 21 on the social network “VKontakte”.
The remains of a Red Army soldier were discovered on August 17, 2024 during a reconnaissance mission of the “Dolg” search detachment near the Byakovo area in the Parfinsky district of the Novgorod region. A soldier’s medallion was found next to the deceased warrior, the note on which was in perfect condition. This made it possible to quickly establish the soldier’s name.
Sergeant Dmitry Stepanovich Larionov served as a platoon commander of the 271st separate ski battalion of the 180th SD. He died near the village of Byakovo on March 13, 1942. The fighter was born in 1923 in the village of Mikhailovka, Topchikhinsky district, Altai Territory. The search for relatives was quickly crowned with success thanks to the assistance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Topchikha region.
According to the relatives of the Soviet soldier, Stepan Feofanovich Larionov and his wife Darya had six children: two daughters and four sons. After marriage, the soldier’s mother became a housewife, and in the large Larionov house there were always many children besides her own: working parents brought children from the village to Darya so that she could take care of them.
During the Great Patriotic War, all four of Larionov’s sons died. The family still keeps photographs of Sergei, Nikolai, Alexei and Dmitry, who did not return from the front. Now Dmitry Stepanovich Larionov has the opportunity to return home after 82 years. The fighter’s relatives will try to bury him next to his parents in the village of Mikhailovka, Topchikhinsky district.
