Relatives of Red Army soldier Nikolai Ivanovich Tarasov, born near the town of Opochka (now Pskov region), are being searched for by search engines in St. Petersburg, the press service of the regional branch of the “Russian Search Movement” in St. Petersburg reported this on the social network “VKontakte” on August 21, referring to the commander of the search detachment “LenPeh-Peterhof” Alexander Slesarchuk.
On August 17, the LenPeh-Peterhof search team recovered the remains of three soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War. The name of one warrior was identified on a soldier’s medallion.
Nikolai Ivanovich Tarasov was born in 1916 in the village of Guzhovo (according to the territorial division at the beginning of 1941: Kalinin region, Opochensky district, Lobovsky village council). Sergeant major, commander of the reconnaissance department of the 48th Rifle Division Nikolai Tarasov died on November 15-20, 1941.
