Journalist Indira Correia Balde, from the RTP-Africa delegation in Bissau, reported this Thursday that she was not allowed to cover the government ceremony due to an alleged “high order” from Guinean President Houmaro Sissoko Embalo.
Correia Balde, also president of the Union of Journalists and Social Communication Specialists (Sinjotecs) of Guinea-Bissau, said the incident occurred at a hotel in Bissau where he was preparing to attend a ceremony attended by the Minister of Health.
A few moments before the ceremony began, Minister Maria Inácia Sanha left the room after noticing the presence of Indira Correia Balde, who was informed by Dr. Plácido Cardoso, head of the health sector, that the ruler could not be in the same room with a journalist.
