A company tactical exercise of the Baltic Fleet marines with training in coastal defence against amphibious landing of a conventional enemy was held at the Khmelevka training ground in the Kaliningrad region, the information support department of the Baltic region reported. The Russian Defence Ministry reported on its official Internet portal on August 22.
According to the plan of the exercise, intelligence data indicated that the conventional enemy was preparing a bridgehead for an amphibious landing. One of the Marine units was alerted and the soldiers secretly moved to the indicated area. Upon arrival, the Marines completed the tasks of preparing the area for defensive and anti-landing engineering positions.
Then, at the stage of combat firing in a dangerous air direction, attacks were launched from firing positions with the guns of the combat modules of the BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, portable, automatic and under-barrel grenade launchers, and 122-mm grenade launchers. Gvozdika self-propelled artillery mounts were also used. In addition, the coastal zone was attacked with 82-mm Tray mortars.
The firing was carried out against specially equipped targets simulating speedboats and landing craft of the “enemy”. The dispersed units suppressed the advance of the conventional enemy with massed fire.
More than 100 servicemen and more than 10 BTR-82a armored personnel carriers took part in the company tactical exercise. During the training, the marines improved their skills in equipping fortifications, using standard military weapons and equipment, and moving around the battlefield.
