Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has arrived in Uzbekistan and laid flowers at the monument to Heydar Aliyev in Tashkent, Azerbaijani Prime Minister’s press secretary Bekzod Khidoyatov said on the official Telegram channel on August 22.
“The state visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev began with a flower-laying ceremony at the monument to Heydar Aliyev in Tashkent”Khidoyatov reports.

Khidoyatov clarifies that the monument to Heydar Aliyev was to be built in 2022. The initiator of the construction was the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Khidoyatov also reports that after laying flowers at the monument to Heydar Aliyev, the Azerbaijani resident laid flowers at the foot of the Independence Monument in the New Uzbekistan park. Aliyev was met at the airport and accompanied during the flower delivery by the head of the government of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov.
It should be noted that Ilham Aliyev arrived in Tashkent to consolidate the energy agreements of the Sixth Consultative Meeting in Astana on the unification of the energy systems of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian region. At this meeting, the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan also agreed to further develop a multimodal corridor through the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan. We also note that on the eve of Aliyev’s state visit, a business forum between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent.
