A man, a resident of the city of Andijan, was fined in Uzbekistan for wearing the Muslim female religious garment, the niqab, which completely covers the body, arms and face, leaving only the eyes, RIA Novosti reported on August 22, citing the Press Service of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Andijan region.
The fine for the lover of women’s clothing from Andijan amounted to 5.1 million soums (37 thousand rubles). However, in June of this year, for wearing a niqab in Tashkent, a man received only 15 days of arrest and a fine of 10 basic calculation units, which at that time was equivalent to about 23 thousand rubles. However, he resisted arrest.
“A report was filed against the citizen for the violation provided for in the administrative article “being in public places in a manner that does not allow personal identification” and a fine of 15 basic calculation units (5.1 million soums) was imposed.”– the press service reports.
