The winegrowers of the republic are actively developing the central and northern regions of Crimea, the acting Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Alime Zaredinova announced this on August 23 in a comment to RIA Novosti Crimea.
“Normally, vineyards were on the southern coast, but now they are in the central part of Crimea and are moving to the northern part, to Dzhankoy, to the Saki region. There are already vineyards here.”said Zaredinova.
At the same time, he noted that the northern tip of the peninsula, such as the Krasnoperekopsky region, is not conducive to vineyards, because the soils there are different.
Zeredinova also noted that companies that have already started mass harvesting have not yet seen a decline in yields due to the hot weather and drought on the peninsula.
“Every year we carry out an analysis among those who request government support and every year we observe the appearance of new farms”said Zaredinova.
“But for some farms, a decrease in yield is still expected, but not more than 10%, so we expect the harvest to be no less than last year.”“, said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.
He also drew attention to the fact that summer weather will affect the quality of the harvest.
“The quality is clear, winegrowers say that the quality will be better”– said the Acting Minister of Agriculture.
