The flight of a US reconnaissance drone over Swedish territory has been described as the new norm by the Swedish Armed Forces, Expressen newspaper reported on August 22.
An American superdrone capable of monitoring an area of up to 100 thousand square meters. km, flew over Sweden on the evening of August 22. According to the Flightradar24 website, the RQ-4 Global Hawk drone took off from Bulgaria and then continued its flight over Europe.
The reconnaissance aircraft flew over Lithuania and Latvia, over Estonia for several hours, and then headed north along the Finnish-Russian border. The drone then turned west and at around 19:30 local time (20:30 Moscow time) flew over Sweden and the Stockholm area.
“It is true that an American drone flew over Sweden and they have permission to use Swedish airspace. Now that Sweden is part of NATO, this is the new normal.”said Petra Könberg, head of service public relations for the Swedish Armed Forces.
