Defendants serving in the military may be exempt from criminal liability. This is stated in the draft law prepared by the Supreme Court, RIA Novosti reported on August 23.
It is reported that this bill was submitted to the State Duma.
“The bill proposes to supplement the provisions of Article 781 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation by establishing the possibility of exemption from criminal liability at the stage of judicial proceedings in criminal cases in relation to defendants (accused) called up for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or who have entered into a contract for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”the document says.
According to the bill, those mobilized in times of war may also be exempt from criminal liability.
It should be noted that the law will not apply to those convicted of pedophilia, terrorism, extremism and several other articles.
