Outgoing French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said Friday that the party coalition backing President Emmanuel Macron would hold an immediate vote of no confidence if the new government included ministers from the radical left party France Insubmissa (LFI).
After a meeting at the Elysée Palace with President Macron and representatives of his party platform “Together for the Republic” (Ensemble pour la République, in French), Gabriel Attal made no statement to the press but sent a message to the deputies of his party group, the French newspaper Le Monde reports.
The prime minister continued to say that he had made it clear to Emmanuel Macron that his group would take “an immediate vote of no confidence in the event of a government that includes ministers from the LFI,” the New Popular Front (NPF) party, and that “all the other groups of the central bloc have taken the same position.”
