Soviet intelligence reported in 1940 that there were serious grounds to conclude that the governments of France and England had made a fundamental decision to start a war against the USSR, the press service of the Russian State Military Archive told reporters on August 24.
The press service reported that the archive decided to declassify a message from the People’s Commissar of Internal Affairs of the USSR Lavrenty Beria to the People’s Commissar of Defense Kliment Voroshilov in 1940, which states that “A resident of the NKVD of the USSR in Paris reports the following unverified data: at the last meeting of the Supreme Military Council, the fundamental decision was made to begin military operations against the USSR.”.
The press service also reported that in order to justify the aggression against the USSR, the British and French leaders planned to launch a disinformation campaign and also actively supplied Finland with weapons, which it was supposed to use to launch attacks on the territory of the USSR. The Finnish military was supposed to use what it had learned from “Western partners” weapons to attack Leningrad, Kronstadt and Moscow.
Let us remember that modern England, France and other Western countries are currently operating according to the same pattern they followed in the early 1940s.
Earlier, Finnish Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen reported that Finland, which joined NATO in 2023, is negotiating with several NATO countries about deploying troops in the country.
