The teenager is suspected of having had prior knowledge of the incident and of not having acted to prevent it, but investigators believe he is not the attacker, who remains at large.
German police announced this Saturday the detention of a person, a minor under 15 years of age allegedly linked to the knife attack occurred last Friday in the city of Solingen and which has so far been settled with Three dead and eight injured.
“During the search, one person was arrested and an investigation is being carried out to determine whether there is any connection to the crime,” the Dusseldorf police said.

The attack
At around 9.45pm local time on Friday, a man of unknown identity began stabbing people indiscriminately at Fronhof, a market in the city centre where a stage had been set up for events to mark Solingen’s 650th anniversary. He managed to escape in the chaos, leaving three dead and eight injured in his wake, five of them seriously.
German police are investigating the attack as terrorist attackand has deployed a large operation with numerous armed agents, special vehicles and helicopter support to search for the person responsible, about whom the police do not have sufficient information.
Police have asked the public to provide evidence or images of the moment of the attack through a specially created internet portal, in an attempt to strengthen the search criteria.
Authorities assume that the man was the only one and have no information about possible accomplices. After stabbing several people in the neck, the man managed to escape in the panic.
The incident occurred during a concert that was part of the festival, which has been cancelled. Residents have been asked to avoid the old town and stay at home if possible.
“We are all in shock in Solingen. We wanted to celebrate the anniversary of our city and now we have to mourn the dead and grieve for the injured. I have tears in my eyes and a broken heart. I think of those who have died and pray for those who are still fighting for their lives,” Solingen Mayor Tim Kurzbach wrote on Facebook.
The attack came just days after Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced plans to restrict the carrying of long knives in public. According to police statistics, 9,000 cases of knife injuries were recorded in Germany last year.
