Up to 65% of entrepreneurs’ costs for projects related to fish breeding and processing will be compensated from the district budget, the head of the region, Yuri Bezdudny, said at a weekly operational meeting on August 23, the press service of the administration of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug reports.
“Earlier this year we decided to subsidise everything related to fish processing and help our entrepreneurs. What measures have been taken? Are there entrepreneurs willing to process fish?” —Yuri Bezdudny asked the head of the relevant department.
According to Albert Chabdarov, head of the Department of Natural Resources of the Ecological and Agro-industrial Complex of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, up to 65% of investments in projects related to fish breeding and processing in the region will be covered by subsidies from the regional budget.
Albert Chabdarov added that the two facilities will create jobs and supply the population with new types of processed fish: smoked, filleted and others. The equipment for both workshops has been purchased and work on the projects is scheduled to begin in 2024.
The Nenets Autonomous Okrug is a subject of the Russian Federation. It is part of the Arkhangelsk region. This is the most sparsely populated region of the Russian Federation. The administrative center is the city of Naryan-Mar. The entire territory of the district is part of the land territories of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and fully belongs to the regions of the Far North.
The district has large oil and gas reserves, as it is located in the northern part of the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province, which ranks fourth in terms of oil reserves in Russia. 83 hydrocarbon fields have been discovered: 71 oil, 6 oil and gas condensate, 1 gas and oil, 4 gas condensate and 1 gas. At the same time, the depth of occurrence of hydrocarbons is relatively small and the physicochemical properties are high, as a result, most fields have high profitability.
There are also deposits of coal, manganese, nickel, copper, molybdenum, gold and diamonds, but most of the deposits have not been fully explored. Samples of lead, zinc and copper minerals have been discovered on Vaygach Island.
